About Calgary Golf Courses
The course, the round, the memory. Part of the Fat Monk Media Network — fourteen Calgary publications, one weekly newsletter, one AI concierge.
What this site is
Calgary Golf Courses is a community memory archive. It collects short, real stories from Calgarians about Calgary's golf courses and the rounds you remember. The form is simple: pick a place, tell us what happened to you there, hit submit. A human editor reviews every submission. The good ones get published. That's it.
The places themselves are real — pulled from OpenStreetMap, the public, freely-licensed map of the world. We don't curate them; we just surface them and ask Calgarians for their memories.
Who runs it
Jordan is the founder and editor of the Fat Monk Media Network and the operator of Fat Monk Media Ltd., an independent Alberta corporation. He lives in Calgary. Email jordan@fatmonkmedia.com.
Why we built it
The Fat Monk Media Network is the working portfolio of Fat Monk Media — a Calgary marketing studio that builds story-driven worlds for its clients. We built the network as our own demonstration of the methodology we sell: audience persona, brand voice, six core stories, a content system, an AI concierge. Same bones we'd build for a client, just for ourselves first.
Reading the network is free. There's no paywall, no programmatic ads, no surveillance tracking, and we don't ask Calgarians for money. If you like what you see and want a similar editorial system built for your business, the studio is at fatmonkmedia.com.

The basics
How to contribute
Two ways:
- Submit a memory — any story tied to a Calgary place, on the homepage form.
- Subscribe to The Calgary Roundup — free, weekly.
Editorial principles
- Every submission is reviewed by a human editor before publication.
- The AI concierge (Monk) is the assistant, not the editor.
- We use trademarked names like "the Saddledome" or "Stampede" only in their nominative, descriptive sense — never as endorsement or affiliation.
- Place data is © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL).
- The network is free. We don't ask readers for money.
