Calgary Golf Courses›Twilight rates

Calgary's twilight rates, every course, every week

When the day rate drops and how much you save. Sorted by cheapest. Updated every Monday at 8am MT.

Twilight is the cheapest legitimate golf in Calgary. Most courses drop their rate sometime between 2pm and 5pm in summer, and for the price of a paperback you can play 18 (or a brisk 14, if the sun beats you). What follows is every Calgary course's twilight rate, when it starts, and how it stacks against the weekday morning price.

The math: in May–June, sunset is around 9:45pm, so a 4pm twilight is a real 18 holes if you're walking. By late July sunset is at 9:15pm, still enough time. By September you're cutting it close for an 18 unless your group keeps moving. Cart pace makes a difference; walking in May? Bring a flashlight on the back nine if you're slow.

MONK'S PICK · TWILIGHT

Maple Ridge Golf Course

$32 · WEEKDAY AFTER 3PM

Cheapest legitimate 18 in metro Calgary, weekday after 3pm. The course is mature, the trees are real, and there's almost never a wait Tuesday–Wednesday. Walking. Cart not required. With a power cart and a pilsner, you're under $50 for 18 holes and a beer.

The three rules of twilight golf in Calgary

1. Start on time

Your twilight tee time is when the rate kicks in, not when you show up. If the rate starts at 3pm, be on the 1st tee at 3pm, not walking into the pro shop at 3pm. Most courses won't sell you the twilight rate until the posted time, so showing up 20 minutes early doesn't help.

2. Walk

Cart pace in twilight is actually slower than walking pace because the paths wind. On the city courses (Maple Ridge, McCall Lake, Lakeview, Shaganappi), walking the back nine in twilight is faster and cheaper. Cart rental is $20–28 on top of your twilight fee.

3. Pick your months

May and June are the sweet spot. 9:45pm sunset means a 4pm twilight start gives you almost 6 hours of light. By August, sunset is 8:45pm and you're racing. September twilight is for singles and fast twosomes only.
